Product Description & Specifications

Product Description

Item: Crosby Shackle - Standard - Galvanized - Anchor - Round Pin Type - Round Pin Type Chain (for applied in-line loads) - Working Load Limit: 1,500 lbs - For Chain Size: 5/16 inch

Manufacturer / Country of Origin: Crosby / USA

Application: Used in tie-downs, towing, suspension, or lifting applications where the load is strictly applied in-line.

Description: Outfitted with a round pin and cotter type securement system and a large round body. Constructed of a Hot-dip galvanized bow of carbon steel that has been closed die forged then quenched and tempered, with alloy steel pin. The 6 to 1 design factor is the ratio of the minimum breaking strength to the permissible working load. The shackle size, grade, Product Identification Code (PIC for material traceability), and the working load limit is forged into the bow. Approved for use in -40 degrees F to 400 degrees F.

The Crosby Difference: There are many look-a-like Crosby shackles, often found at lower prices and advertised with the same safety standards. Be aware it may refer to safety ratings in effect decades ago. For example, under the same safety standard a decade ago a lifting shackle may be rated to 100% without proof load testing, while today it may be 300% with proof load testing.

Quality Standard: Meets or exceed the requirements of ASME B30.26, which include identification, durability, design factor, proof load, and temperature requirements. Also go above and beyond these standard safety requirements by including fatigue life, impact properties, and material traceability; factors that are not required by ASME B30.26.  Meets the Federal Specification RR-C-271G, Type: IVA, Grade A, Class 1, except for those provisions required of the contractor. Type Approval certification in accordance with ABS 2016 Steel Vessel Rules 1-1-17.7. *NOTE: All shackles 25 tons and above are equipped with RFID (radio frequency I.D.).

Availability: Shipping time is subject to change PER manufacturer availability.

Industry Names: Also known as 'screw pin type anchor shackles' or 'screw pin type dee shackles'.

WARNING: Round pin shackles are not for gathering multiple sling legs, or where side loading conditions may occur. Do not exceed rated capacity!

The Crosby Difference

Low quality lifting products can cause injury and damage. There are many look-a-like Crosby shackles that are often found at lower prices, and are also often advertised to conform to the same safety standards, if at all. Be aware that it may refer to safety ratings in effect decades ago. So for example, under the same safety standard a decade ago, a lifting shackle may be rated to 100% without proof load testing while today it may be 300% with proof load testing. Be assured that we only sell the highest quality lifting shackles and our advertised safety standards conform or exceed to the current ASME standards.
